Ca și în limba română, în engleză se folosesc procedee de îmbogățire a vocabularului prin derivare, compunere, schimbarea valorii gramaticale și prin împrumuturi din alte limbi.
Exercițiul de mai sus pune în practică derivarea. Din fiecare din cuvintele de bază (cu majuscule) s-au obținut cuvinte derivate.
