In search of the perfect home
Nowadays a lot of people want to be “unique”, to stand out from the crowd, and some of them thought to change their living place.
The first example is of John and Josephine Mew, who considered that only a castle could be a proper home for them. The building has the features of a traditional castle: a keep, a moat and a drawbridge. For these people this is the perfect place to live.
Another example is of Jonathan Ridley-Jones and Sharon Ridd who built a house in a converted underground water tank. They consider they have a quiet and very cosy home, without the usual draughts. As the house is underground it doesn’t damage the surrounding and has low fuel bills.
Dar Garner thought to extend the living space of his family building a tree house in their garden. The house was built in a spruce tree, six meters above the ground. It’s quite large, with a bedroom, a main room and a balcony running around two sides. He considers his house comfortable and airy, but he doesn’t recommend it to people who suffer of hay fever or a fear of heights.
Another original person who wanted to change his ordinary living place is Bill Heiner. One day his neighbours noticed that a 7.5 meters long shark crashed through the roof of Bill Heiner’s house. In fact the shark is a fiberglass sculpture made by a local artist and it is not dangerous for the house or for other neighbouring houses.
No matter where people live, they always can do something to make their houses nice and comfy for themselves.
