moving silently across the floor of the bedroom.

Tom couldn’t get his boat because the water
raised higher and the tree to which he tied his boat was too far away from the house.

Tom and Lucy must get out of the house quickly because
a huge tree carried along by the flood had hit the side of the house, and the
house was going to collapse.
