The jaguar ( Panthera onca ) is a mammal that belongs to the family Felidae . It is one of four big cats of the genus " Panthera " with lion , tiger and leopard. The jaguar is the third-largest feline after the tiger and lion . A jaguar habitat stretches from Mexico to Paraguay and northern Argentina , but it has been seen occasionally in the southwest United States. Jaguars living in rainforests are usually darker and smaller than those living in open spaces. It is believed that this is because there are fewer forests with which to feed ruminants .

The jaguar is the third-largest feline after the tiger and the lion. Is is also the largest and most powerful feline in the Wester Hemisphere. The jaguar has a very powerful strong bite, even compared to other bigs cats.Because of its spots, jaguar look like leopards, thourg  it is usully lerger and stronger, and is behavior is more like that of a tiger.
